Miami, Florida -- Miami International Airport's steady passenger traffic in 2009 despite a full-year of economic recession worldwide made it the busiest airport in Florida and the second-leading airport in the U.S. for international passengers. MIA was one of the few U.S. airports to maintain stable passenger traffic levels last year, serving 33.9 million passengers in 2009 - down only half a percentage point from 2008.

Panama City, Florida -- When the Panama City – Bay County International Airport makes its debut in May 2010, it is slated to be the first airport to open in the U.S. since Sept.11, 2001. Located on Panama City Beach’s expansive West Bay, the airport is being developed on 1,300 acres of a 4,000-acre site donated by The St. Joe Company.

Orlando, Florida -- The number of international passengers through Orlando International Airport (MCO) increased nearly 11 percent in 2009, propelling the airport to a record-breaking year for international travel. Nearly three million travelers arrived and departed MCO from both traditional, long-established destinations such as Toronto, Canada; London, England; and Dublin, Ireland; and recently added foreign cities including San Salvador, El Salvador; Bogotá, Colombia and Amsterdam in The Netherlands. In 2009 a total of 33,693,649 domestic and international passengers were recorded representing a 5.5 percent decline compared to 2008.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida -- Virgin America, the California-based airline that is reinventing domestic travel, today announced it will serve Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) with daily non-stop flights from the West Coast beginning Nov. 18, 2009.  The South Florida region will be the tenth destination in the airline's growing network.  Virgin America will serve FLL with two daily non-stop roundtrips from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and two daily non-stop roundtrips from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  The airline will also offer convenient connecting flights from Seattle, Orange County, San Diego anfd Las Vegas.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida -- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) announces a projected increase in September outbound traffic with 3.6 percent growth year over year, ranking it third amongst the United States' top 30 airports in terms of available seats, behind Salt Lake City and Honolulu.  The FLL airport's load factor is remaining steady at approximately 80 percent.
