Homestaed/Miami,Florida -- Celebrating its 11th season of competition, the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series takes to the track March 5-7, 2010 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. GRAND-AM has established itself as the most competitive professional road-racing series in North America and counts among its all-time roster many of the top drivers in the world, including:
NASCAR Sprint Cup Champions Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart, and 2009 contender (and South Florida resident) Juan Pablo Montoya; IndyCar Series Champions Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon, and three-time Indy 500 winner/Season 5 “Dancing with the Stars” Champion Helio Castroneves (also South Florida’s own); and “Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey.
Competing on the 2.21-mile road course at Homestead-Miami Speedway, GRAND-AM racing features two classes of cars racing on track simultaneously: The Grand Touring (GT) category consists of the very cars general consumers drive—BMW, Porsche, Corvette—while the Daytona Prototypes are of a highly technical design. The March 5-7 GRAND-AM races are unique in that they are timed competitions set at two hours and 30 minutes, with the car leading at that time declared the winner.
