Florida Flight Information

Orlando, Florida -- The number of international passengers through Orlando International Airport (MCO) increased nearly 11 percent in 2009, propelling the airport to a record-breaking year for international travel. Nearly three million travelers arrived and departed MCO from both traditional, long-established destinations such as Toronto, Canada; London, England; and Dublin, Ireland; and recently added foreign cities including San Salvador, El Salvador; Bogotá, Colombia and Amsterdam in The Netherlands. In 2009 a total of 33,693,649 domestic and international passengers were recorded representing a 5.5 percent decline compared to 2008.

For the month of December overall traffic at Orlando International was down less than one percent, compared to 2008. The increase in international traffic exceeded 12 percent for the month.

“With new and expanded international service that created a double-digit increase in international passengers, and the completion of the major components of the refurbishment and expansion of the two original airside buildings, 2009 was a significant year in our operations” Executive Director Steve Gardner comments.

2009 Calendar Year Statistics:

* International traffic increased 10.8 percent.
* A record-breaking total of 2,977,920 international travelers arrived and departed MCO for the year. The old record of 2,722,169 international visitors was recorded in 1993.
* Domestic passengers totaled 30,715,729 for the year.
* The total number of travelers both foreign and domestic reported was 33,693,649 for a 5.5 percent overall decline compared to 2008.

December 2009 Statistical Data:

* International traffic climbed nearly 12.2 percent.
* A total of 2,836,590 passengers traveled through Orlando International for the month which represents a less than one percent drop (0.71 percent) from December 2008.
