Orlando Theme Park Update 2010

Orlando, Florida -- With new attractions and adventures opening at Orlando's world famous theme parks, 2010 is sure to be an exciting year for Orlando visitors.  In spring 2010, Universal Orlando Resort will open "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter," where guests can experience the magical world of J.K. Rowling's popular Harry Potter series.

The new land at Islands of Adventure will feature Harry Potter themed rides, dining and shopping experiences.  Walt Disney World will celebrate volunteerism throughout 2010 with the new "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" program, which offers guests who perform volunteer service with a participating organization a free one-day admission ticket to Walt Disney World Resort.  And, Aquatica, SeaWorld's Water  Park, will open a new high-speed tube slide, Omaka Rocka, in the spring. Additionally, several new attractions have recently opened including Sum of All Thrills, a simulator ride that allows guests to design their own thrill ride located at Epcot, and Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit, a rollercoaster featuring audio and special effects that allows the rider to create a take home music video located at Universal Studios.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will open a new Sesame Street  attraction in spring 2010.  "Sesame Street Safari of Fun" will be filled with rides, shows and adventures featuring Elmo, Big Bird and all their friends including "Air Grover," a junior roller coaster; "Oscar's Swamp Stomp," a water ride; and "Elmo's Safari Go-Round," a tribal-inspired carousel. In addition to the rides, families will also be able to watch characters on the big screen at "Sesame Street presents Lights, Camera, Imagination!," a 4-D theater.

Dinosaur World has added new juvenile and baby dinosaurs to its collection of 150 life-size dinosaurs.  The Chasmasaurus family has grown by adding three babies and two juveniles and the Styracasaurus family has grown with twins, both babies and juveniles.

Kissimmee Air Museum has expanded its flight operations by adding Kissimmee Helicopters, which offer flights and instruction to both pilots and non-pilots alike in a Robinson 44 helicopter.  Introductory flights start at $95 for a 15-minute hands-on instructional flight.  A 30-minute flight is $180 and a 60-minute flight is $350.  Qualified pilots can fly solo.

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS FLORIDA

Universal Studios Florida has opened a new roller coaster, Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit. The high-tech, multi-sensory experience includes audio and special effects with on-and-off-board LED-screen videos to create a unique experience that allows riders to choose which song they will hear while they are on the roller coaster and take home a music video when the ride is over.

Universal Orlando Resort will open "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" in spring 2010.  The new land based on J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series will be located in Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park.  After entering through the Hogsmeade archway, guests can experience shops and dining featured in the books.  The land will also incorporate several rides including "Dragon Challenge," a twin high-speed roller coaster, "Flight of the Hippogriff," a family coaster and "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey," an attraction bringing the world of Harry Potter to life using new and advanced technology.

WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT

Starting Jan. 1, 2010, Walt Disney World celebrates volunteering with their "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" program.  One million people who perform volunteer service with a participating organization will receive a free one-day admission ticket to Walt Disney World Resort.  Guests can go to disneyparks.com for the United States and Puerto Rico or disneyparks.ca for Canada to search for volunteer opportunities available through the HandsOn Network, the nation's largest volunteer network.

Walt Disney World has opened a new attraction, Sum of All Thrills, located at Epcot.  The attraction allows guests to design their own thrill ride and then experience the ride in a simulator attached to a giant robotic arm.

Disney's Hollywood Studios will create a 3-D version of "Star Tours," based on the "Star Wars" films, which will debut in 2011.

Disney's Magic Kingdom will vastly increase the size of Fantasyland by 2013, the largest expansion in the history of the Magic Kingdom.  Additions to Fantasyland include the opportunity to:

    * Visit a Disney Princess in her castle, cottage or chateau to dance with Cinderella, celebrate Sleeping Beauty's birthday with the Good Fairies or join Belle in an enchanting story performance in the Beast's castle library.

    * Dine in one of three enchanted rooms inside the Beast's castle.

    * Fly with Dumbo above brand new circus grounds, twice the size of the existing attraction with a new interactive, three-ring circus tent.

    * Journey under the sea with Ariel, The Little Mermaid, in her own attraction.

    * Meet Tinker Bell and her friends in the magical world of Pixie Hollow.
